What a Korean body scrub does for your skin
Korean Spa is a body treatment that removes dead skin cells down to the deeper surface layer, leaving your skin cleaner, smoother, and brighter. Beyond exfoliation, it also helps improve blood circulation and unclog pores.
We start with the sauna, and that order is not a formality. Dead skin clings firmly when it is dry, so scrubbing it in that state only irritates the skin with little to show for it. The sauna heat softens that layer first, so it lifts away with far lighter friction. Your therapist then works across the whole body, from the back and legs to the front, spending extra time on elbows, knees, and heels where buildup is heaviest. The session closes with a milk stage to calm the skin, then a thorough rinse.
The whole session takes about 90 minutes, with no pain and no downtime. You can carry on with your day right after.
Why the result differs from a regular scrub
The difference is in the tool, and it is the question our guests ask most. Unlike regular body wash or scrubs, we use a Korean diamond scrub towel with a texture designed for deep yet safe and effective exfoliation. Combined with the sauna stage at the start, that is what makes the result of a single session something you can feel the moment you touch your own skin.
What you get from one session
- Removes dead skin cells, leaving skin smoother and softer
- Helps clear pores and impurities built up on the skin surface
- Stimulates skin cell renewal for a brighter, healthier look
- Improves blood circulation, helping the body feel refreshed
- Helps ease soreness, muscle tension, and stress through relaxation
- Maintains skin moisture so it feels supple, not dry
- Helps reduce rough skin buildup on elbows, knees, and heels
- Provides all-round relaxation
Does it hurt?
No. We rate this treatment at pain level 0. What you feel is the towel gliding over your skin, and because the skin has been softened first, that friction is far lighter than scrubbing dry skin. Some of our guests actually call it calming. If any area feels too intense, just tell your therapist and we adjust the pressure right away.
One thing we want to set straight from the start: the grey rolls that come off are dead skin cells mixed with the skin's natural oils, not toxins drawn out of the body. How much comes off says more about how long it has been since your last exfoliation than about how clean you are day to day. We would rather you arrive with accurate expectations than be impressed for the wrong reasons.

Women only, at both clinics
Our Korean Spa room serves women only, in both Jakarta and Balikpapan. The room is private, and the therapist accompanying you is a woman as well. We mention this more than once on this page on purpose, so nobody travels for something we cannot yet provide.
How it goes
What Happens After You Reach Out
Five steps, written plainly, so you know exactly what your time goes into.
Step 1 of 5
Chat & pick a time
Message us on WhatsApp with your preferred clinic and rough timing. Our team confirms the spa room is available at that hour.
Step 2 of 5
Arrive & get ready
We show you the changing room and lockers. First visits include a spa toolkit, purchased once and reused on every visit after.
Step 3 of 5
Sauna
This stage is not a warm-up act; it is what makes the rest work. The sauna heat lets the dead skin layer absorb steam and soften, so it can be lifted without excessive friction.
Step 4 of 5
Body scrub
Your therapist removes dead skin across the whole body with a Korean diamond scrub towel, working from the back and legs to the front. Elbows, knees, and heels get extra time.
Step 5 of 5
Milk stage & rinse
The session closes with a milk stage to calm freshly scrubbed skin, then a thorough rinse. You can go straight back to your day.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Korean Spa hurt?
No. We rate this treatment at pain level 0, with no downtime. What you feel is the towel gliding over your skin, and because the skin has been softened in the sauna first, the friction is far lighter than scrubbing dry skin.
Can men book a Korean Spa session?
Not yet. Korean Spa at The Mercy Clinic is for women only, at both the Jakarta and Balikpapan clinics. We say this up front so nobody travels for something we cannot yet provide.
How long does one Korean Spa session take?
About 90 minutes, including the sauna stage at the start and the rinse at the end. Allow a little extra time for changing and getting ready, so the session never feels rushed.
What should I bring?
Nothing. On your first visit you receive a spa toolkit, purchased once and reused on later visits. Add-ons such as cucumber, honey, coffee, or yogurt masks are optional and can be added on the spot.
How is this different from a regular body scrub?
The difference is not the product but what happens before the scrubbing. Korean Spa starts with a sauna until the dead skin layer softens, then uses a Korean diamond scrub towel textured for deep exfoliation. Regular scrubs rely on fine granules on skin that has not been softened.
Which clinics offer Korean Spa?
The Mercy Clinic Jakarta (Cikini, Menteng, Central Jakarta) and The Mercy Clinic Balikpapan (Pentacity Mall, South Balikpapan). Spa room availability can be checked ahead of time on WhatsApp.
